Previously, I posted what is needed for creating an Autumn aroma in your household, now that there are snow covered streets, it’s time for a new scent! Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday for many reasons.  I love having time to see my family and I don’t care what anyone says- the magic of Santa is real and I love seeing proof of that in the faces of children.  It won’t officially feel like Christmas until I am at my parent’s house with the rest of my family but until then, to make my apartment feel a bit more festive I love having this simmering on the stove.

Christmas Potpourri

In a small saucepan add:

1 orange sliced/cut

3 cinnamon sticks, broken in half

1 cup of fresh cranberries

1 – 2 teaspoons cloves (whole or ground)

1 – 2 teaspoons nutmeg

Water to fill to about 1 inch below the rim. (You could also use apple juice or cider!)

You can also add Lemon, Rosemary and/or Vanilla

You can really add any of your favorite scents but the ingredients listed above are what remind me of Christmas the most.

Simply simmer on the stove over Medium Heat but don’t forget about it being on your stove!  The liquid will eventually need to be replenished in order to prevent burning.  Always be careful when leaving your stove-tops on, especially if you have children; use the back burners.  Yes, this is common sense but you’d be surprised at how many incidents I have heard about.. I just wouldn’t want any accidents so please be careful!

If I have time I will be writing more Christmas inspired posts like I did last year but just in case, Happy Holidays to you and yours, no matter what you celebrate.  Enjoy the time spent together and if you go out to celebrate, drive home safely!

Love ‘n’ snowflakes,

JLA
