On Saturday, June 20, 2015, join many other excited Montrealers to help celebrate the opening of the new Hospital! Mayor Denis Coderre will be there with other government leaders to cut the ribbon to inaugurate the new Glen site of the McGill University Health Centre. The event begins at Dawson College at 8 AM followed by entertainment at 9 AM. The actual walk begins at 10 AM and is a total distance of 3 km which ends at the new site of the MUHC (right near Vendome metro station). The entire event should end by 1:30 PM.
Not only will you be walking with “Olympians, sports celebrities, media personalities, business leaders, community groups, schools [and] everyone who wants to celebrate the essence of Montreal” but, there is also a concert. Who will be performing? The talented Sam Roberts Band (Juno Award-winning singer/songwriter Sam Roberts) and the winner of Star Academie Stephanie Lapointe! What a great opportunity to help your community and have a fun time doing it!
If anyone wants to participate in the Walk but know they are unable to physically complete it, there are several other transportation options. There will be several buses and adapted transportation available to bring you from one site to the other. However, there is limited space so call 514 934-1934 ext. 23622 as soon as possible to reserve your spot. Do not worry about it effecting your viewing of the ribbon-cutting ceremony or the Evenko concert! There will be a special section assigned just for you and the reservation will be made at the same time as when you register for transportation.
Registration is only $5 and children under 12 get to walk for free (as long as they are walking with a registered adult). You will get a Walk Kit that includes a bandana, MTL MUHC love flags and the bracelet which allows you access to the concert! Where does the money go? All proceeds will go directly to providing the more than 200 Family Rooms in the new hospital with comfortable furniture, pillows, quilts and blankets – everything needed to comfort families while supporting their loved ones.

I can’t wait to see you all there!
