Holiday Gift Ideas

Hi there!

I previously wrote a post about DIY gift ideas.Understandably, many of us do not have the time to do the arts and crafts we would like to do.  That’s why I recommended giving back to others during the holidays in another post.  However, if you would still like to get the special people in your life something during the holidays, online shopping is a great, easy and fast way to do so.

The following sites are different and offer unique gifts while others let you have both worlds by giving you an item that also helps a charity.

Uncommon Goods

As an independently-owned business, we have the freedom to support causes we believe in and to impact the world in a positive way. Giving back is important to us and we want to share that passion with you, our customers. Through our Better to Give program, we’ve been able to build a better business by connecting our customers with charities around the globe. With every purchase you make, we’re proud to donate $1 to the non-profit of your choice.

Since we started the Better to Give program 12 years ago, we’ve donated over $700,000. Thanks for helping us pay it forward and do our part to improve the planet and support the people who live on it. Let’s keep up the good work!

World of Good

More than 16,000 eco- and socially conscious goods are available (some from as low as $2) on World Of Good. Shop by gift category, or, if you’d like, “purchase impact,” be it eco- , animal-, or people-friendly. Each product is vetted and comes with a short description so you can see exactly where your money is going. Fair-trade lip balms, organic soaps and craft supplies are all under $15 and make excellent stocking stuffers.

Build a Nest & Global Goods Partners

At online boutique Nest, BuildaNest.com, the $60 you spend on floral Guatemalan tote will go toward…creating more Guatemalan totes! The site sells original apparel, jewelry, home and paper goods made by more than 100 exclusive artists and designers and gives microcredit loans to women in developing countries, enabling them to start and maintain a business selling their own products—which are then offered on the site itself.

Another likeminded organization, GlobalGoodsPartners.org, sells handwoven bracelets made by native tribes in Argentina and handcrafted beaded bangles made women in Tanzania (above). Global Goods Partners is dedicated to alleviating poverty and promoting social justice and funds women-led market initiatives in local communities in 24 countries.

Charm City Babies

Charm City Babies works with a variety of charities, NICUs, hospitals and youth organizations that are in need of clothing for their newborns. At the end of every month, Charm City Babies takes the total number of shirts sold from our online store and delivers them to a certain center we have partnered with. We are always looking for more partners, so please let us know if you work with a hospital or children’s center.

Lush

There are now 830 stores in 51 countries. Lush produces and sells a variety of handmade products, including soaps, shower gels, shampoos and hair conditioners, bath bombs, bubble bars, hand and body lotions and face masks.  Lush uses fruit and vegetables, essential oils, synthetic ingredients, honey and beeswax in their products. In addition to not using animal fats in their products, they are also against animal testing and perform tests with volunteers instead.

Laughing Man

Founded by actor Hugh Jackman, Laughing Man sells coffee, tea, chocolate and accessories to help entrepreneurs around the world. All of the revenue goes toward entrepreneurial education and community development. Price: Prices vary — $12 to $14 for coffee; $8.50 to $10 for tea

Stand Up To Cancer

Stand Up to Cancer raises money for groundbreaking cancer research. Its online shop offers a wide variety of gifts with its logo, such as hoodies, jewelry, teddy bears, candles and more.  All proceeds benefit accelerated cancer research.

WWF

WWF offers a variety of gifts, from toys and apparel to animal adoption which helps save the animal of your choice for not as much money as you would think!  GREAT cause.

There are endless amounts of sites and they are easy to find- take the time to find gifts the keep on giving!
